About Us
Cedarways Residential Childcare is committed to putting into action therapeutically, informed practice that helps children and young people recover from experiences of abuse, neglect, family breakdown, and trauma. With more than 25 years of experience, we realise that consistency and stability are key factors in facilitating the process of healing, together with our staff’s ability to establish and maintain trusting relationships with these children, and to make them feel accepted and secure.
Our mission is to make a positive and lasting difference through the delivery of a first-rate care provision, ensuring that every vulnerable child and young person can grow, flourish and unlock their potential, and to find the adequate placement that responds rapidly to their emerging needs. In this process, we take into account their backgrounds and the turmoil they suffered, and we invest the time and resources we have at our disposal to help them adapt, recover, and surmount the challenges posed by their prior adverse circumstances.
The Cedarways residential care services are principle-based and remain embedded within our complete range of ‘High-Impact Sector Leading Children’s Services’. We treat each other with respect, honesty, and integrity, values that reflect in our relationships with children, their families, colleagues and external agencies. We believe that proper therapeutic care can have a profound impact on the quality of life of vulnerable looked-after children and adolescents.
Our organisation is a member of Social Enterprise that works with ‘Looked-after Children’ who are in need of specialist care placements throughout the UK and Ireland. Being a Social Enterprise means that we care passionately about creating positive social impacts. Cedarways caters for abused children, children showcasing learning difficulties or disabilities, and for children having behavioural problems that in the wider community would not be properly managed. We are child-centred, adaptable and innovative in how our services are designed.
We demonstrate resilience, value for money and ethical commitment, becoming the partner of choice for local authorities. At Cedarways, we promote a strong, pragmatic philosophy, shared by all of our professional and experienced staff, which focuses on the child as a whole person with unique reactions to trauma. We strive to ensure that our looked-after children have access to tailored programmes that enhance the development of their psychological well-being. In addition, our staff attend to the special educational needs of children in our care, by adopting a variety of strategies that reduce the likelihood of low academic achievement, which further increases their chances to become functional adults.
Furthermore, our team members commit both personally and professionally to provide a supportive care setting which offers children and adolescents the opportunity to work through their fears and problems, to acquire effective coping skills and to self-regulate their strong emotions. We at Cedarways are aware that healing is a lengthy process and for this reason, we prepare in advance endless choices that can be used to achieve successful outcomes.
