Education – a Cornerstone of Growth
We at Cedarways Residential Child Care believe that education nurtures young people’s minds and acts as a stimulator for developing and enhancing the freedom and power to access and take ownership of knowledge that supports achieving positive outcomes in later life. Cedarways is committed to ensuring that all children within its care have the best opportunities possible to maximise their life chances. This commitment applies to the academic attainment of our children, but also to their experiential learning vocational education, cultural and artistic development.
At Cedarways we aim to provide a therapeutic educational framework that promotes emotional growth and academic success to encourage holistic child development. Through our continued support, we make sure to offer stability to children and young people in our care, which is fundamental to their successful integration, to gaining and maintaining a sense of belonging, to feeling secure and being able to express their views clearly - without repercussions.
Education represents a valuable instrument in acquiring key competences and in connecting with the world and the people around us. Thus, Cedarways strives to deliver the highest quality of education, to inspire and feed inquisitive minds, that further contributes to enabling and promoting the independence of future young adults.
With a knowledgeable team in place, our staff are equipped with the right skills and experience to ensure that none of our boys and girls miss out on educational opportunities. As a service, we expose and encourage our young people to these opportunities and we believe learning and preparing for next steps is one of the keys to success to ensure they successfully transit into further education, employment or training.
Without education, children and youths would be at risk of being marginalised considering their tumultuous and precarious backgrounds. Education fosters the development of resilience in looked-after children, by learning how to cope with their limitations and difficulties. It helps them keep pace with their more fortunate peers and eventually have the same chances of becoming a functional and useful member of the society. Our aims are:
